Avengers: Endgame Movie – My Thoughts
After watching Avengers: Infinity War with its shocking ending, I counted the days till Avengers: Endgame featured in theatres. It is obvious from many ratings and reviews that Avengers: Endgame was a marvelous success.
I am not a movie buff and I do not always appreciate the ‘art’ aspect in movies. Facts are: I love superheroes and watched all Marvel and DC superhero movies to date. Comic books was part of my childhood and I read as many as I could get my hands on. But by no means am I an expert on the whole history of the Marvel universe and its characters. Therefore my critique is based on watching a movie on a topic I love and whether I found it enjoyable as a simpleton to watch or not.
Having said that: I did not enjoy Avengers: Endgame as much as Captain Marvel (for instance). Let me start by saying it was a fantastic cast with a tremendous ending but I got bored with this whole time-traveling part that seemed never-ending. Many said that Captain Marvel was too slow but Avengers: Endgame had me battling to stay awake.
What I did not like: The fact that Captain America wielded Mjolnir. This does not make sense to me and even if some may think the Cap. is worthy, I do not think so and this contradicts some previous knowledge of Captain America.
I did not like the fact that one of my favorite superheroes (Thor) became a whiny, sulky, fat drunkard. It made me want to jump up and tell him to grow up or just stop being so soft. I agree that a good movie should tug at your emotions, but not one that irritates. It does not fit a god-like character nor does depression. Now this is the ‘art’ part I do not like where it is supposed to be ‘clever’ and ‘witty’ where the audience are left wondering how will Thanos be defeated now? I personally just think it is dumb as is him needing his mommy to get him through his depression.
All is forgiven at the end with the right amount of action to wake you up and the right emotions triggered. It is worth the watch just for the ending.
If you haven’t seen Avengers: Engame, then get it on Blu-ray, DVD or simply the digital version and judge for yourself. Perhaps you agree with the IMDB rating or perhaps not. In the end: I think it is worth watching and worth adding to your Marvel collection.
